Our favorite companion spread its wings to help comfort even more kids! The award-winning social robot is modified to include new accessories and an enhanced interactive app to help meet the specific needs of children with sickle cell disease. This resource is available to every child age 3 and up who is diagnosed with sickle cell disease or pediatric cancer.

Superhero Spotlight: Joe Bauer

Joe is a child life specialist at Children’s National Hospital, named one of the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. He supports children diagnosed with pediatric cancer and blood disorders by helping them manage the emotional components that accompany the diagnosis. In addition, he provides developmentally appropriate education through creative means to help children understand the details of their treatment. In this role, Joe strives to bring normalcy to the hospital for his patients during an uncontrollable time.

"The Park Bench" makes debut

Our animated short film, "The Park Bench," illustrates a real-life battle many Americans face daily – a medical event that can impact your family and your financial security – told through the eyes of a young girl whose father has sickle cell disease. Award-winning creators brought the message of care to life, earning official film festival selections from Brand Storytelling, Animation Dingle, Oxford Film Festival, Maryland Film Festival, Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, and the Sedona International Film Festival.
